Books—Build Your Reference Library
It’s time to reintroduce the relaxing pastime of reading. Books can provide an escape from the stresses of everyday life.
According to the New York Times “When ‘Gone with the Wind’ was published in 1936 during the Great Depression, it sold a million copies in its first year and stayed at #1 on best-seller lists for 2 straight years.” Of course, that was before television, but maybe it is now time to take a holiday from television and the internet and light a fire, pour a warm drink, and sit down and enjoy a book.
A gift of a book rather than the routine bottle of wine would be a marvelous gift, sure to be appreciated by the host of the party. A book would also be a thoughtful gift to anyone on your gift list (including yourself).
Regardless of where you live there’s a local flavor—and the key players in any neighborhood are independent business (as compared to retail chain stores).
