Black-on-red pottery from Hopi is much rarer than the traditional Black-on-yellow or Polychrome. Nampeyo of Hano and her daughter Annie Healing are known to have made such from time to time as did other potters of First Mesa.
This candle holder is mounted on a flat slab of clay as normally made for pottery tiles. It has a handle for easy transportation. The candle holder is relatively large in diameter and would hold a candle of one inch in diameter.
Condition: very good condition with no discernable damage
Provenance: from the collection of a family in Colorado
