The earliest inhabitants of the American Southwest were big-game hunters. The only evidence they left behind were the stone spear-points now known as Clovis and Folsom Points, named after the towns in New Mexico where they were first discovered.  Finely crafted, these points are a testament to the ability of early Americans to combine function with beauty.

This bolo or bola tie has an arrowhead shaped stone set in a handmade saw tooth bezel.  The artist likely used techniques similar to that of the prehistoric hunters in order to shape his arrowhead, but since it was intended for jewelry did not fashion it in a manner to use on a spear head.

The tan-colored stone is an elegant alteration from the traditional turquoise that is so frequently used in the manufacture of southwestern jewelry. It evokes the memory of the ancient hunters of the southwest.

Condition: one horizontal crack in the stone but the silver bezel is holding the stone securely.
