Delores Juanico is a daughter of Marie S. Juanico (1937 - ) who was her mentor.  Marie had learned pottery principals from her mother, Delores Sanchez, who lived to the age of 103. Young Delores carries on the tradition from her grandmother and mother of making the finest Acoma pottery.

 

Delores Juanico (1969 - ) signatureDelores creates miniature pottery and applies designs from published historic pottery.  This jar has a design she chose from a published Acoma jar from circa 1880.  She acknowledges that by putting the date of the original jar on the bottom of her jars.  Her vessels have the thinnest walls imaginable.
