Original Acrylic Painting "Indian Detours #3" [R]

This original acrylic painting was completed by Tony Abeyta in 1989 as part of a series of images entitled Indian Detours with a number following the title. The Indian Detours was a Fred Harvey Company enterprise where they would drive tourists to the pueblos for dance ceremonies and other functions.

Tony Abeyta described the process he used in making this painting. He took an image from a printed source (book, calendar, etc.) and laid it on a sheet of handmade paper and then added paint over and around the print. The resulting painting is an original acrylic work on paper.

Provenance: from the personal collection of a Chicago resident who knew Abeyta when he lived in Chicago.
