For the past year, we have been seriously putting together a collection of pottery and paintings by Maria Martinez and members of her family. We have examples of every signature used by Maria over her career of blackware pottery. There is a large Polychrome olla made by Maria and painted by her older sister Anna, a rare red jar with the design carved by Julian in the style of Santa Clara Pueblo, a large selection of black-on-black, black polished, red polished, buff-on-red, all by Maria and Julian. There are several black-on-black by Maria and Popovi Da, some blackware by Popovi Da alone, and some black and sienna, as well as red carved wares, by Tony Da, and a few pieces by Santana and Adam and Barbara Gonzales.
In the painting category, we have several paintings by Julian Martinez, several by Popovi Da and several by Tony Da.
For those who are in Santa Fe during August, all show items are viewable in the gallery now and are available for consideration to add to your collections. Our Grand Opening Reception will be August 11th from 5 to 7pm.
