This finely woven textile is the product of a time consuming process that includes preparing the wool by washing it after sheering the sheep, carding the wool, spinning the wool into fine silky yarn, and finally weaving it into symmetrical geometric designs associated with traditional Two Grey Hills rugs.  Traditional Two Grey Hills rugs are only woven with yarns in the natural colors of the sheep; brown, black and white.

The wool in this Navajo textile is textured like cashmere and the colors of the wool are strong and consistent.  The weaver, Linda Begay, placed a weaver’s pathway at one end of the textile.  The original Two Grey Hills Trading Post rug tag with the weaver’s name is still attached.  The rug was purchased in the 1980s.
