Ben Eustace is originally from Zuni Pueblo and is a recognized jeweler by trade. When he married Felecita, he moved to her pueblo of Cochiti where they raised their children and where he learned to make pottery figurines—he learned well.
This figurine of a standing male is very well proportioned and sculpted to perfection. The facial features are excellent. He sculpted the concha belt of clay and placed turquoise stones in each concha. The drum is made of wood with hide top and bottom. The piece is in excellent condition.
I hereby certify that this figurine was made by Ben Eustace of Cochiti Pueblo. The previous owners purchased it directly from him, and I recognize it as his work. Alexander E. Anthony, Jr. January 4, 2004
