Potter Unknown
Tesuque Pueblo
Medium: Native Materials, Commercial Paint
Size: 5" long
Item # C3021C
Price: $350

Tesuque Pueblo is best known for making Rain God figurines since as early as the 1880s; however, the potters there did make other tourist-type items such as sugar and creamers, candlesticks, treasure boxes, cups and saucers, and smoking pipes.

This pipe does not appear to have ever been used for smoking. The bowl is clean. The face is quite similar to faces seen on Rain God figurines. The black paint appears to be from a vegetal or mineral source and the red is probably commercial paint. The pipe is in remarkable condition.
