The story of Helen Cordero and the wonderful Cochiti Storyteller figurine is well known. It has been well documented that architect and folk art collector Alexander Girard was instrumental in encouraging Cordero to continue making storyteller figurines and to make them larger and with more children.  He offered to purchase all she made, which he did for quite some time.
This storyteller figurine is a female wearing a wide flaring skirt, on which rest 14 children and a dog.

This is a charming storyteller and the only one I have ever seen with children sitting in a circle around the adult figure.

Condition: It is in original excellent condition.
