Susan Romero (1955- ) Pho-sa-we - Snowflake

Susan Romero is a daughter of Joseph Lonewolf and she has been an active potter since 1972. She, like her famous dad, specializes in miniature pottery in the sgraffito style.

This wonderful miniature seed pot is literally covered in a proliferation of design elements. There is a Mimbres-style human figure, a petroglyph [petra “rock” + glyphe “carving”]-style human figure, and numerous figures in various geometric shapes. Each design element is individual but overlaps other design elements. The artist added touches of color in green, blue and yellow. The jar is truly spectacular and illustrates true creativity of the artist.

This is an older piece, perhaps 20 or more years, but is in original excellent condition. It is signed Pho-Sa-we, the Tewa name of the artist. It features a cartouche of a snowflake, the English translation of the Tewa name. For awards, exhibitions and publications of this artist see the reference below.
