These Zuni drop earrings are a perfect example of Zuni mosaic inlay. The smiths of Zuni have always been known for their ability to work with small pieces of stone. They cut, shape and set pieces of shell, turquoise, jet and coral to create mini works of art. These rainbow man earrings are especially well done. Each little stone has been shaped and perfectly set in a sawtooth bezel with sterling silver drops. The rainbow man is a Zuni supernatural being that along with the knifewing god, has been used quite extensively in Zuni jewelry since the 1930s or 1940s.
