Photo of Helen Hardin (1943-1984) Tsa-Sah-Wee-Eh - Little Standing Spruce. Image Source: the photo copies (of original polaroid’s) of Helen Hardin appear courtesy of the photographer.A beautiful work in two colors—midnight blue and burnt umber. This image depicts a solitary figure in traditional Pueblo woman's garments with tableta and dance wands, standing in the center of the plaza. Subtle diagonal shifts occur at the juncture of the background adobe structures and the sky, creating a certain dynamism and asymmetry in the otherwise centralized image. It is beautifully and sensitively realized in the subtlest ranges of tone and visual texture.

The etching was begun on 02 June 1982 and completed on 12 July 1982.  The master printer was Catherine Clinger and it was executed at El Cerro Graphics in Los Lunas, New Mexico.  The artist drew directly on a copper plate which was then etched in four steps.
