Bracelet with Four China Mountain Turquoise Stones [SOLD]

Indigenous inhabitants of New Mexico have used turquoise for adornment and trade since prehistoric times. Archeologists have postulated that the Ancestral Pueblo people at Chaco Canyon were involved in the manufacture and trade of turquoise.  Scientists can determine the approximate location where turquoise originates by analyzing the chemical makeup of turquoise. Analysis of turquoise found in central Mexico shows it came from the Cerrillos mine in what is today New Mexico. The mines at Cerrillos have been closed for decades and many American mines have been closed as the turquoise has all been extracted.

The lure of turquoise is not just an American Southwest phenomenon. Turquoise is valued worldwide, with evidence of use in ancient China and India. Some of the finest grade turquoise comes from China and the Middle East. The turquoise in this lovely four cab bracelet is of Chinese origin from the China Mountain mine.

An unknown Southwest Indian Jewelry artist has set four stones in handmade sawtooth bezels. The artist placed these stones on a foundation of two twisted wires and one solid band of sterling silver. Separating the stones are silver drops. The artist used sterling silver to frame the absolutely amazing stones.
