The initials MA are on the underside in black marker, an indication that it belonged to the Abeita family, a member of which brought it to us.This small Zia Pueblo bowl shows evidence of much use over its life time, yet, it is structurally in very good condition.  The wear pattern is restricted mostly to the area of the rim.  It appears that there is a small amount of white paint at and near the rim.  It is the typical size for serving green or red chile as a condiment.  The initials MA are on the underside in black marker, an indication that it belonged to the Abeita family, a member of which brought it to us.

A younger member of the Abeita family brought this and other bowls to us recently.  She received them from family members.  Her grandfather was Frank Abeita and his initials appeared on several of the bowl she brought us.  Her great-grandfather was Juan Pablo who, back in the 1920s, provided the name Kimo to the now historic theater in downtown Albuquerque.  His initials were painted on one of the bowls brought to us.  In all, we received six bowls from this young person from Isleta Pueblo, all of which came from her family members.

Condition: very good condition with wear pattern to the rim paint

Provenance: from a resident of Isleta Pueblo who received it from her parents
