Stamps reminiscent of the sun and moon adorn these late 20th Century old-style earrings. On a finely shaped hoop of silver, an unknown artist deftly stamped a series of sun shapes and crescents along with carefully-stamped linear elements. A single rectangular green cabochon of turquoise rests at the bottom of the hoop. The earrings are stamped “sterling” but there is no hallmark of the Diné artist from the Navajo Nation.

Condition: The Old Style Stamped Earrings with Square Turquoise  are in very good condition, the stones are intact.

Provenance: From a gentleman Southwest Indian Jewelry collector living in Colorado

Recommended Reading: Southwest Silver Jewelry by Paula Baxter

Note: when we say Diné, as opposed to Navaho or Navajo, we are referring to the people and not the government.  Since 1969, their government refers to itself as the Navajo Nation
