Waldo Mootzka, Hopi Pueblo Painter

This katsina image is most likely a version of a Flower Katsina, possibly Mashanta Katsina.  Neither Colton nor Wright has that one illustrated in their books, so a complete comparison cannot be made.

The katsina illustrated here has a red, yellow, and black mask, upon which are what appear to be flowers.  This is further enhanced by the bees flying around the flowers.

Condition: this Original Painting of a Hopi Katsina is in very good condition

Provenance: from a collection of 10 paintings by Mootzka of Single-figure Katsinas
