Artists Signatures - Carmelita and Carlos Dunlap - Mother and Son teamCarmelita Dunlap (1925-1999) and her son, Carlos Sunrise Dunlap (1958-1981), collaborated on pottery for the short duration that Carlos worked with his mom, probably no more than 5 years. Carmelita primarily made pottery and Carlos painted them for her.  Since he passed away at age 23, their collaborative output could not have been numerous.

This very large shallow fluted rim bowl was coated on the interior with traditional San Ildefonso slip, stone polished, and finished with a black and orange design consisting of a heartline bear, with the heartline represented with an Avanyu, and then a design just below the rim alternating with black peaks and orange stacked triangles.

The bowl is signed Carlos Sunrise & Carmelita Dunlap San Ildefonso 1978.
