Denny Gutierrez (1942-2013) was a potter producing well-balanced and beautifully burnished blackware. This swirl melon jar features well-proportioned and spaced swirl ribs from top to bottom of the jar. It is a beautifully graceful jar and in original condition. He was the son of Katherine Gutierrez and had won awards at Santa Fe Indian Market every year for a decade. The jar is signed Denny Gutierrez Santa Clara and dated ’05. It is just as impressive with or without the lid.
Condition: this Santa Clara Black Sculpted Jar with Lid is in very good condition with one very minor abrasion, almost too small to see.
Provenance: from a gentleman from New Mexico
