Award winning Hopi-Tewa artist Lydia Huma Mahle won First Place honor in the 8th Annual Tuhisma Art Show 2005. Additionally in 2005, she garnered the Arizona State Museum Award of Excellence in Clay. The award is for "high quality in craftsmanship and vision in the use of clay".

Lydia Huma Mahle is daughter of Stella Huma (1929-1995) and sister-in-law of Gloria Mahle, village of Sichomovi on the Second Mesa.
