From the Introduction:

After moving to the Southwest, Michael and I were exposed to Indian Art. It was an opportunity for the artistic sensitivity and love within us, to be expressed through collecting. To walk upon a ruin and attempt to imagine what it would have been like to live there, only enhances the romantic adventure.

We have decided to publish this book to share a representation of the many extraordinary pre-historic Indian pottery pieces Michael has collected over the last 2-1/2 years.

Since Mimbres is the dearest to our hearts we have chosen to picture a large number of the high quality bowls Michael has purchased this year. The summer of 1979 was devoted to the pursuit and purchasing of these outstanding pieces. Michael and I have derived much enjoyment and satisfaction from this project.

To us the Mimbres culture is the most expressive and so reveals the freedom and talent as well as the humor of these people. This pottery vividly relates realistic insight about these individuals and their day to day lives, activities and experiences. We would like to extend a warm Thank You as well as our appreciation to all our new and dear friends we have acquired on our many trips, while assembling this beautiful collection of Southwestern Pre-Historic Indian Art.
