This book is very scarce/quite difficult to come by and truly an invaluable resource for the study of Historic Pueblo pottery.

This is the first comprehensive published work on pueblo pottery. In this book the discussion is almost entirely restricted to pottery painted with either mineral or vegetal matte paint. The restriction is a natural one, because in almost every Pueblo there either is virtually no history of glaze ware manufacture, or else there was a marked transition from glaze-ware to matte-paint-ware at the beginning of the eighteenth century.

This book presents a study of most of the historic-period ceramics of the New Mexico Pueblos, together with a description of Tewa ceramics in the late prehistoric period. In addition, the bibliography lists numerous publications dealing with a variety of other topics in Pueblo Indian ceramic developments, as well as in the evolution of pottery making in adjacent districts.
