From the INTRODUCTION
It was in the spring of 1925 that Clyde Kluckhohn came to New Mexico from Princeton University to regain his health. Hearing the Indians of the enchanted desert talk of Nonne-Zoche Not-se-led, the incredible, soaring natural stone bridge colored like the rainbow, Kluckhohn decided to visit it. He and some friends, for a wonderful summer, rode 2,500 miles on horseback to the very foot of the Rainbow Bridge. He set forth their adventures in this book, which was his first, and it was first published in 1927.
Those who know and love the spacious, colorful Land of Enchantment will welcome the re-appearance of this simply-written story of high adventure in a marvelous place. Read this rare and intimate glimpse of a great man in his youth, having a great time in a great place.
Kluckhohn became a distinguished anthropologist in later life and dedicated his life work to public service. He wrote a couple more books of his adventures before becoming a prolific writer in the field of anthropology.
