This book divides North American Indian art into three large geographic areas.  Three leading scholars have each written an essay about Indian art in their respective geographic areas of specialization.  Steven C. Brown discusses the Northwest Coast of British Columbia and Alaska, Benson I. Lanford writes about the expansive Plains and Woodlands, and Bill Mercer delves into an analysis of the Southwest and California.  These essays provide excellent general information and are intended to enhance the reader’s understanding of the objects in the context of their cultures

The book is oversize, pages measuring 13 x 11-3/4 inches.  Beautiful full-color photographs of the art objects fill each page. This is an extraordinarily beautiful book with extraordinarily beautiful Native American objects.
