This is a compilation of two essays dating from 1894 and 1897 as reported to the Bureau of American Ethnology by Jesse Walter Fewkes from personal observations of the Hopi Snake Dance.  These firsthand, eyewitness accounts describe in detail one of the most famous and spectacular of all Native American ceremonial events. This revised edition adds several never before published photographs.
