This Diné of the Navajo Nation silver ranger set includes the buckle, two belt loops, and a belt tip. The buckle was beautifully formed with a spray of leaf forms. The end of the buckle was beautiful stamped with delicate designs. The elements on the side of the buckle have an Art Deco style. The belt loops and tip were designed with a spread of rays.
This ranger set is stamped with the name J. P. Begay or P. J. Begay, with the JP initials conjoined. It is also stamped with Sterling. We have been unable to find published information on the artist.
The Navajo ranger set is extraordinarily handsome with an exquisite design concept. You might want to check out the video on how the leather would appear in a ranger belt configuration. It is quite different from the typical leather belt. These buckle sets take their name from the Texas Rangers who began wearing thicker, sturdier belts to accommodate the heavy Colt pistols they carried on their waists.
Condition: very good condition
Provenance: this Diné of the Navajo Nation Stamped Sterling Silver Ranger Set is from the collection of a client from Oklahoma
