Agate has an uncanny way of mimicking the landscapes of the Navajo Reservation. The large agate stone in this bracelet resembles the last moments of the day before the sun sets below the horizon. Streaks of orange and black fade through the grey evening sky. The amazing stone is framed by a combination of twisted wire, silver loops and silver drops. It is set on an elegantly stamped shank. Made during the mid-20th Century, it is characteristic of the lovely Fred Harvey bracelets sold along the railroad route from Chicago to Los Angeles.

What is agate?  Agate is a rock consisting primarily of cryptocrystalline silica, chiefly chalcedony, alternating with microgranular quartz. It is characterized by its fineness of grain and variety of color. Although agates may be found in various kinds of host rock, they are classically associated with volcanic rocks and can be common in certain metamorphic rocks. - Wikipedia
