Incorporating an old-style burnished finish, Acoma Pueblo silversmith Selina Warner created a modern interpretation of a traditional squash blossom necklace. Beautifully crafted blossoms and perfectly formed handmade beads are interspersed between vibrantly colored spondylus shell drops that have been cut, shaped and set in saw tooth bezels surrounded by a section of twisted wire. A classically shaped naja hangs from the center of the necklace.

Warner doubled up on the squash blossoms, putting them together as pairs or groups of three.  Additionally, she made them short in the style of early circa 1900 ones. Later blossoms were elongated.  These add to the antique look of this necklace.

Every aspect of Selina Warner’s work illustrates her attention to detail. Each individual blossom is proportionally appealing—connected to the necklace with a uniquely textured segment of silver. The naja—an ancient symbol of protection—is an elegant rendition of an age-old design. The necklace hangs with a perfect graceful elegance.
