Rounded sections of multicolored gemstones including lapis and rose quartz are set in stamped circular frames that are connected to each other by handmade links in this Navajo Silver Line Bracelet. Each link has two small silver drops. Each section resembles a Zia symbol- also the state symbol of New Mexico. This is accomplished by the creative use of stamp work. The unknown artist simply used the same stamp four times-once each for the four directions.

The bracelet looks to have been made in the mid-twentieth century and the addition of non-traditional stones suggests it was made for the tourist trade. It is unsigned but is stamped sterling.

Condition: The Navajo Silver Line Bracelet with Multicolored Gemstones is in good condition. The stones and silverwork are intact. The small chain that is usually attached to some link bracelets is missing, but the bracelet still fits securely.

Provenance:  From the inheritance of a daughter of the Balcomb family, owners of several art galleries of Native American art and objects in the post-WWII era until the 1970s when they closed their last gallery.
