The appearance of two Thunderbirds for cigarette holders identifies this sterling silver ashtray as most likely made by a Diné silversmith for The Fred Harvey Company, owners of the Thunderbird logo.  The Fred Harvey Company hired craftsmen to make items to its specifications to satisfy its large tourist demand for souvenirs.

The rim of the bowl was scalloped to conform to the circular design surrounding each scallop.  A large rectangular design fills the base of the bowl. The ashtray rests on four legs made from small silver buttons.

Condition: very good condition

Provenance: from the extensive collection of a client from Washington, D.C.
