A Diné of the Navajo Nation silversmith designed this elegant sterling silver pin of a butterfly with a single turquoise gemstone as the symbol of its color.  The wings are contoured and have scalloped edges.  Thin etchings outline each fold of the wings and circles emphasize the edges.  The body is a long silver rod with impressions.  The turquoise cab sits in a silver bezel surrounded by a twisted silver wire.

Butterflies have enchanted us forever.  We marvel at their beauty, and struggle to understand their ability of migration.  A butterfly represents colors, joy, and change. They considered the exquisite butterfly as a sign of resurrection and a miracle of transformation. In truth, the butterfly is symbolically a very positive presence in the Native American culture.

Condition: very good condition

Provenance: this Navajo Sterling Silver Butterfly Pin with Single Turquoise Gemstone is from a Colorado gentleman collector of Native jewelry
