Hopi Rugan Katsina Doll [SOLD]

This is a Rugan Katsina but not one that has been published as of yet. The face markings have been observed on other similar katsinam, but they have not been identified more specifically than just as a Rugan. The body style, arms and hands against the body, and matte tempera paints contribute to dating this carving to the 1930s.

The carving is in excellent condition. It appears that nothing has been replaced. Some of the paint has worn off but that is consistent with its age.
