Tesuque Pueblo double-chamber vessel connected below mid-body with an open channel and at the top with an arched handle. Totally traditional in all aspects of manufacture with a paste with crystalline grains which accounts for the ripples in the unslipped underbody paste after polishing.

The majority of the vessel is slipped in traditional Tewa cream-colored clay which has been stone-polished, then decorated with a floral vine-like design. The rim around each opening is red-slipped, as is the handle, and a red band is painted below the decorated body - very traditional traits of 19th Century Tesuque wares.

Whether this is a paint pot or other ceremonial-type vessel is up to speculation. No repairs or restoration. Excellent condition.
