Sadie was recognized by collectors and her contemporaries as an outstanding potter. She had a long, successful career making and selling pottery on the Reservation. She supported her family in this manner following the death of her husband. She was particularly adept at making wonderful pottery tiles such as this one.
This is an extraordinarily large one—larger than most tiles, even those normally made by Sadie. It has a beautiful rendition of a stylized bird—probably an eagle—as the sole decorative item.
