As a student at the Santa Fe Indian School, Geronima Cruz often used earth colors for painting native subjects such as simple design motifs borrowed from tribal or prehistoric sources. These subjects remained popular throughout her career. Simplicity, but strength of line, are characteristic of much of her work.
