Ramone (Ramon) Platero (1930-2003)

Ramone Platero is presumably the first Navajo smith to use the leaf in silver jewelry. He has been an active silversmith since the early 1970s.

In this ring, he placed a silver leaf on each side of the stone, covering the three-prong split shank. A very simple silver bezel secures the turquoise to the base of the ring. The turquoise has a minor fracture, but is well secured in the bezel and in no danger of falling out. Stamped Handmade and Platero.
