Chee often used dark or black paper against which he portrayed his scene. This presents an image of nighttime. In this particular painting, Chee presents a Navajo man sitting on a blue horse. The Navajo has his head turned looking back behind himself at the moon, presented as a Buffalo Shield. Waves are being sent from the moon.
Condition: The painting appears to be in original excellent condition. It is currently shrink-wrapped for protection. It is signed in lower right.
Provenance: From the collection of the family of Balcomb’s Gallery in Albuquerque which they closed in 1976.
