Original Painting “Autumn in Abiquiu, N.M.” [SOLD]

It was not unusual for Von Hassler to return to the same village at different seasons and set up his easel at the same spot in order to capture the feeling of the place under different occasions. This painting of Spring in Abiquiu is the same siting as the painting of Winter in Abiquiu, both of which are on our website. Both paintings are dated 1942 and both were brought to us by the same collector who inherited them from his parents who lived in Abiquiu at the time these were painted. He is not sure if Von Hassler sold or gave them to his parents.

This painting is still in the original frame made by Von Hassler. His notations of site location and date are penciled in his hand on the back of the frame. His signature appears in lower left of the canvas. The painting is in original excellent condition. It was recently professionally cleaned.
