A unique, unsigned and undated early work. Coil-formed with aggressive columnar, tooth-like projections and subtle surface embellishments with a pointed object to create random pitting. An aggressive and powerful form of intimidating visual presence. Excellent condition, unsigned. This piece was received from Dillingham as a gift, and has been attributed to the time period around the late 1970s.
An atypical form, quite unlike Dillingham's formal repertoire of broken, glazed, and reassembled works, and distinctively different from Dillingham's earlier pit-fired earthenware globes. One may find a primitive interpretation, indicative in Dillingham's interest in native American, African, and other First Nations cultures.
