Silver containers for holding a package of cigarettes was quite popular following the World War II period and continued into the late 1960s. Today they are less popular except with collectors of Navajo silver works.
This cigarette box is decorated on sides, front and back, and the lid with traditional Navajo jewelry stamps. The stamps chosen were light and delicate which is most proper for an item of this style. The lid is hinged with handmade silver hinges.
