The Art Deco Movement influenced many aspects of Native American art, from pottery designs and shapes to rug motifs. Although not as common as pottery and rug designs, Southwestern jewelers were also influenced by the Art Deco Movement as evidenced by this thunderbird pin. The thunderbird has become a symbolic icon of the Southwest, being one of the most often used motifs in tourist jewelry.

Beginning with the arrival of the railroad to New Mexico in the 1887, Fred Harvey incorporated the thunderbird symbol into his trademark. This Zuni Pueblo pin has channel inlay triangles that form the wings. It is a wonderful little pin reminiscent of a different time period and history that is so very collectible today. It is in great condition and ready to wear.
