Three-dimensional stone carving at Zuni was originally limited to making fetishes of small animals. A few of the more prominent stone cutters began developing the style to include wearable jewelry such as bracelets, pins, and rings.
Quam has been an active jeweler since the mid 1960s. He makes bracelets, earrings, necklaces, pendants, pins and bolas. His favorite design is a Chief’s head with eagle feather bonnet such as this one.
