It is not unusual for stew bowls to not be signed with a maker's name as they are generally made for use by the maker as food bowls.  Sometimes they are presented to a friend as a gift.  It is quite likely that this bowl was given to Katherine Rust by the maker as she was well-known to many pueblo residents and many of them stayed at her home in Albuquerque when in town.

There is no evidence that this bowl was ever used as a food container as it is in original unused condition.  The body of the vessel is divided into four panels for design purposes.  Two of the opposing panels contain a bird element and the other two contain a rain cloud.  The execution of the painted designs was precise.

Condition: the bowl is in original condition

Provenance: from the collection of Katherine H. Rust
