The beautiful dark blue stone in this ring could be mistaken for the famous and rare Nevada turquoise named Lander Blue, however, it actually is New Lander Royal Web and is not turquoise but is a mineral known as Chalcosiereite, also from Nevada. The stone is set in a silver bezel atop a silver base that is textured and cut in irregular fashion. The shank is comprised of two silver wires formed together as a single and attached to the silver base at different locations.
The ring is stamped with the initials KSO but we have not yet identified the name of the jeweler. Perhaps a client can shed light on this for us.
*Note: Chalcosiderite is a rare mineral in the oxidized zone of some hydrothermal mineral deposits. It forms a series with turquoise. It is named from the Greek for copper and iron, for those elements in the mineral’s composition. This stone was identified by Joe Dan Lowry, owner of The Turquoise Museum in Albuquerque and author of Turquoise Unearthed. It is oftentimes mistaken for Lander Blue Turquoise which is the rarest and most expensive turquoise in the world.
Condition: The ring and stone are in original condition
