Oraibi is a village on Third Mesa on the Hopi Reservation. It is not unusual for members of other tribes to visit the Hopi villages particularly during the Katsina season. Navajo often attend Katsina dances as is probably the case presented in this etching. The information provided on this etching was based on information in the catalogue raisonné of Borein etchings entitled The Etchings of Edward Borein by John Galvin, 1971. Borein did not date his etchings so no date has been estimated for this one. Borein passed away in 1945 so we know it predates that. Condition: This etching was treated by a professional paper conservator and is in excellent condition. It is framed without matting so that the full extent of the paper is visible. Spacers separate the etching from the glass of the frame. Provenance: from the collection of Katherine H.
