Priscilla Namingha Nampeyo was a third generation descendant of Nampeyo of Hano. Her mother was Rachel Namingha Nampeyo and her grandmother was Annie Healing Nampeyo. She continued using the Sikyatki revival designs taught to her by Nampeyo. She was an outstanding potter and her designs were always beautifully executed.
This marvelous seed jar with a Sikyatki Revival Migration pattern has the most wonderful coloration resulting from the firing technique. The fine-line work was applied with precision. Priscilla did a marvelous job of forming and decorating this jar. It is signed Priscilla Namingha Nampeyo.
There is a wonderful interview of Priscilla Nampeyo by Greg Schaaf in his book Hopi-Tewa Pottery 500 Artist Biographies (click here to view details of book). The book may be purchased from Adobe Gallery.
