Sylvia Naha was the daughter of Archie and Helen Naha, and the granddaughter of Paqua Naha. Paqua was the first Frog Woman, and Helen, the first Feather Woman. After Helen Naha passed away, her daughter Sylvia inherited the title of Feather Woman. Sylvia passed away in August of 1999, at the age of 48. She signed her pottery with the feather hallmark of her mother and the added initial S to distinguish her work from that of her mother.
Sylvia applied stippling to the white slip that covers the vessel, providing softer shading than the stark white associated with the Frog Woman family of potters. In this jar, she painted two elaborate lizards, each with exquisite body designs. She also painted two modernist corn plants. The final touch was embedding an oval blue turquoise cab into the surface of the clay near the rim opening. The jar is signed with the feather hallmark and the initial S.
