Diego & Martina Aquino Southwest Indian Pottery Contemporary Hopi Pueblo signatureMartina Aquino (c.1920-1982) was the mother of Diego Aquino and they worked together starting in the 1970s for 10 years or less.  Martina is listed as having received a First Prize at Santa Fe Indian Market in 1974 and several other awards through 1981.  Diego received awards at Santa Fe Indian Market from 1976 to 1981 as well.  Both artists were included in the Albuquerque Museum "One Space/Three Visions" exhibit in 1979.

 

This jar features corn plants in bas relief encircling the jar and rain clouds pendant from the neck of the jar with rain drops falling around a corn plant.  The red rim and red underbody are stone polished and the designed area is matte finish.
