Once Known Native American Potter

Although this clay replica of a pueblo kiva is not signed by an artist, we have attributed it to an unknown potter from Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo based on the appearance of the clay.  The tan clay is not stone polished but left in the natural matte finish.  The underside is slipped in red clay and stone polished.  It is estimated that the kiva was made in the 1960s, based on the collection from which it came.

Condition:  very good condition.  There is no visible damage

Provenance: from the collection of Katherine H. Rust
