Once Known Native American Potter

This Rain God is contemporary, probably having been made in the 1960s. It was very finely sculpted and painted with a traditional design. Each cheek has a sun symbol which contributes to the charm and happiness of the figure. Condition: structurally in original condition. There are fire clouds on both arms and a small amount of slip was abraded when a piece of masking tape was removed from the rear of the figure. Provenance: from the collection of Katherine H. Rust Recommended Reading: When Rain Gods Reigned: From Curios to Art at Tesuque Pueblo.
